Setting Up Your Tenda MW6 – Step by Step Guide

Step 1: Unbox and Connect

Open the box and take out your Tenda MW6 units.
Connect the main unit (MW6) to your Imagine Broadband modem using the provided Ethernet cable. Plug one end into the modem and the other into the WAN port on the MW6.

Step 2: Power On

Plug the main MW6 unit into a power outlet and turn it on. Wait for the unit to boot up.

Step 3: Connect to Wi-Fi

Find the default Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password on the main MW6 unit or in the included documentation.
On your smartphone, tablet, or computer, locate and connect to the Tenda Wi-Fi network using the provided credentials.

Step 4: Download Tenda Wi-Fi App

Visit the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) on your mobile device.
Download and install the “Tenda Wi-Fi” app.

Step 5: Open the App

Open the Tenda Wi-Fi app and follow the on-screen instructions to create a Tenda account or log in if you already have one.

Step 6: Add Device

In the app, find the option to add a new device.
Follow the prompts to add the main MW6 unit to your network.

Step 7: Place Additional Nodes

Place your next two nodes in areas where you want to extend Wi-Fi coverage. Connect them to power.

Step 8: Add Additional Nodes in the App

In the Tenda Wi-Fi app, follow the instructions to add the additional nodes to your network. The app will guide you through the process.

Step 9: Mesh Network Configuration

The mesh system will automatically configure itself for optimal performance.

Step 10: Complete Setup

Once all nodes are added and configured, your Tenda MW6 Mesh Wi-Fi System is ready!

FAQs

Can I limit the amount of time my kids have access to the internet?

Yes of course, this can be setup in parental controls. Make sure your kids devices are connected to the Wifi, then create a ‘Kids Group’ under the parental control section of your app. Once you’ve added their devices to the group you can schedule the days & times when the device can connect to the internet.

Will I get security firmware updates?

Yes, the app should let you know when to update the firmware. You can check if there’s a new version able to upgrade to under setting > firmware upgrade > detect latest firmware.

What do I do if one node won’t connect to the others?

The maximum suggested distance between two nodes is two walls, try moving it closer and adjusting the angle. If this doesn’t work, power down & wait 2 full minutes then check again. If you’re still experiencing issues, you should hold the reset button for 20s, when the lights turn solid white you can release it. The lights will turn blinking blue, open the app and click ‘allow’ on the pop up asking to join the network.
